This awesome package that I received today is the "spring fever voxbox" from Influenster. It came with five products that are all new to me. Reviews coming soon but I was so excited, I needed to give a sneak peak ;) And if you must know, the Kandy Barkakes is gone. I did share though :)
Well it has been a while since I have received anything from She Speaks. They completely changed the way their website was set up so I honestly didn't even know if they did product testing anymore. Imagine my surprise when they sent me an email saying that I might qualify for a selection of some of the most loved products from P&G (Procter and Gamble)! Everybody got different products and some lucky bloggers got a biiiig box full (lucky them!). The items that I got were the Dawn Hand Renewal with Olay, the Venus & Olay razor (with an extra pack of refills), the Gillette Fusion Proseries soothing moisturizer, and a Covergirl Perfect Point Plus self-sharpening eye pencil.A look at the moisture bars
All of these products were new to me except for the Dawn Renewal. When it first came out, there were $1 off coupons in the P&G Brandsaver (one of the Sunday newspaper coupon inserts) just about every month and Dawn goes on sale for $1 at CVS very often. So I had a free stock of the stuff for the longest time (I still have some left since we use the dishwasher for most things). The product really does leave your hands feeling softer than other dish soaps. While I like it, it does not have the ultra power of the original blue Dawn (no other brand or other version of Dawn does either) so for certain heavy duty tasks, I still have to have that around. But on a regular day to day washing basis, you don't need that much grease cutting power and this detergent works lovely. I love Dawn's apple scent so I think it would be amazing if they could come up with an apple scented dish detergent with the Olay moisturizers in it.
The first thing I noticed about the razor when I opened it up was the scent. It smelled soooo good that I sat there smelling it over and over. I'm pretty sure my husband thought I was nuts because he kept giving me weird looks. It's ok, it smelled amazing. It fit in my hand nicely and moisturized very well. The only problem was that since the head is so big (because of the moisture bars), it missed some spots around my knees and ankles. So I now have a love/hate relationship with it because of this. I have a more thorough comparison of this and the Schick Hydro Silk razor that I got free from BzzAgent coming up within the next couple of days.
The Gillette Fusion Proseries soothing moisturizer is an after shave moisturizer. My husband doesn't generally use after shave products but since this came free, he used it. Hours later, his skin was still soft even though the prickles were starting to come in. Normally his skin will be dry a while after shaving and if it is in the winter, it sometimes even starts to flake. After using this product, his skin was soft without being oily. I haven't priced this product yet so I'm not sure if it is worth it's price but he did think "it was fine." You love his enthusiasm right?
I have not tried the eye pencil yet. It looks pretty awesome though. One side has the "self-sharpening pencil" that I assume twists up and then the other side has a smoothing tip to be able to blend the color. The product says that it is a long lasting liner that is water resistant. I don't wear makeup (besides lip stuff) often which is why I haven't tried it but it looks promising. I have used similar types of eye liners and liked them.
Remember how I posted here about that fantastic party kit that Marc Jacobs and Crowdtap sent me to promote the DOTS fragrance?
Well, it was so much fun. I made little lady bug crackers using pepperoni and olives, corn on the cob "dots", and I cut strawberries sideways so that they were circles instead of hearts and paired them with blueberries. The rest was provided by the other ladies (there was all sorts of food, this was just what was on the table in the beginning). This is a close up of some (not all) of the favors including some of the ladybug closet/car fresheners that I made out of the blotter cards. I cut them in half, glued it onto some black construction paper w/ a ribbon, and sprayed it down (in two layers, dried in between) with the perfume. I think they came out pretty cute and they smell great.
The response was really positive for the perfume. I was pretty surprised that everybody liked it. I like it but everybody has different tastes when it comes to scents so I figured at least a few ladies would turn their noses up at the DOTS. Everyone really liked the samples and thought the nail decals were cute. This ended up being one of the most fun things that I have done for Crowdtap.
A product that we got to sample recently from Smiley360, was a mini tube of the new Wicked Cool! toothpaste from Tom's of Maine. It is made for kids eight and up. It has a mint flavor to make them feel more grown up but it is much more mild than adult toothpastes. As my 9 year old put it, "it is still minty without being spicy". I tried it as well since my boys aren't know for explaining things correctly and it did indeed have a less "spicy" as he puts it, mint taste. It made my mouth feel clean but I'll stick with the uber refreshing adult mint toothpaste. Thing thing I like most about it is that it has NO artificial dyes, flavors, or sweeteners. While I am not super active on avoiding them, I do try to keep an eye out and avoid them when possible. It's all junk as far as I am concerned so this is a huge plus for this product. The company itself seems pretty awesome as well. According to their website, they do not test on animals, use no animal products, they use sustainable practices where possible, volunteer their time, etc. I'm not sure if I will continue to buy the product because I'm not sure how much it costs. The store that I do most of my grocery shopping at does not carry it and CVS which is where I do most of my toiletry couponing, I keep forgetting to check. Click here for more info!
My newest product sampling package came a couple days ago in the mail. I received my Smile.ly package with the Children's Mucinex Multi-Symptom cold medicine sample. Unfortunately (fortunately actually) I have not had a chance to test it out as my kids are both cold-free now. Woohoo! It's about time. This is one sample that I hope I don't end up having to use for quite a while. I am glad that I have it for when I do need it though. I had never tried this product, I didn't even know Mucinex made a children's medicine. My husband is a big Mucinex fan though. He often has chest congestion so goes through several packs of Mucinex per year. The children's multi-symptom cold medicine comes in a "berrylicious" Very Berry liquid that is for children 4-12 years old. It claims to relieve stuffy nose, cough, chest congestion, and thin and loosen mucus (yuck!). Go here for a $2 off coupon if you'd like to try it. What do you think? Have you tried children's Mucinex before? Does it work as claimed?
Update: My youngest did end up getting a cold during the campaign. I gave him the Children's Mucinex and it seemed to work about the same as the other children's cold medicines that I have tried like Pediacare, Triaminic, etc. It didn't seem to do any better or any worse. So I guess I will just get whichever brand is on sale still.
My latest Bzz campaign with BzzAgent is the new Blast Flipstick from Covergirl. There are two shades of lipstick with every purchase. One side is a darker, creamier color. The other is a lighter, shimmery color. The idea is that you can use the darker, use the lighter, blend them together for a third color, or use the lighter to accent, highlight, or create the new ombre look. The ombre lips is not my thing. To be honest, I think they look a little strange. I received the product in Stunner, Vixen, and Minx. So far I have tried both the Stunner and Vixen and like both. The Minx is not a color that I would be able to pull off with my skintone so I am giving that one away (see giveaway below). The lipstick itself is not anything special. It is just lipstick. The fact that you are getting two shades in one stick that coordinate beautifully is what sells the product. Will this replace the products I usually use? No. I like the colors but I really am a lipgloss/liquid lip kind of girl. If the product had a little bit of sheen, it probably would be my one stop lip shop. However, because of the unlimited blending option, I will definitely add it into my lip rotation. I would really like to try the Cheeky or Perky.
This product actually reminds me of another Covergirl product that I have gotten from Bzzagent that I still use all the time. Smoky Shadowblast has two coordinating creamy eye shadows on the same stick. I had to go look it up on the website to see what it was called because the name has rubbed off of the one I have from frequent use. Silver Sky is the color I have and I would also try Onyx Smoke or Bronze Fire. I was shocked at the poor reviews. After many, many applications, my stick has not crumbled or broken, nor have I had any problems with it creasing. I tend to have a light hand with makeup so maybe the people that had problems with creasing were doing a more dramatic look.
But for me, when I travel, I like to bring versatile things that can create multiple looks while not filling multiple bags. Because of this, the Blast Flipstick, Smoky Shadowblast, and a simple mascara are all my makeup bag needs.
The third color I got called Minx is just not a color that my skin tone would be able to pull off. Therefore, I am going to give it away to a random reader (unopened of course) along with a couple of the $2 off coupons so that you can try other colors if you'd like. Does it look like a color you could pull off? Or do you know somebody who could rock it? You can earn up to 3 entries per person. You must be in the US to win. A winner will be picked via random.org. The giveaway ends on 12/12/12 at noon (eastern time). Please use a valid email address as this is how I will contact you if you win (it will not be publicly visible and I will not use it for any other reason).

A product that BzzAgent sent to me recently was a full sized sample of the cleanser and moisturizer from Burt's Bees' new sensitive skincare line. I am going to be straight with you. I will not be buying this in the future based on cost. I think I might melt into a puddle if I paid over $10 for one bottle of skincare. I'll stick with the stuff that I get for free (or at least under $5) with couponing. However, this stuff was nice so if you care about it being 99% natural or you need hypo-allergenic, allergy-tested, non-comedogenic, etc stuff, this would probably be a good deal for you. They have no parabens, phthalates, or petrochemicals according to the tube. They also don't test on animals and encourage recycling. Good right?
Ok so onto the products. The cleanser is pretty cool. It is a cream cleanser (soap-free) so it does not suds or foam at all. I like when cleansers foam so I wasn't sure how I would feel about this. Surprisingly I liked it. It left my skin feeling very clean and fresh. The scent was not entirely pleasant for me (it says fragrance free but everything has a scent) but it was not strong at all so I got over it. It left my cheeks so soft that I keep wanting to pet them... strange? Check. It's probably the cotton extract in it but then again I know nothing about skincare ingredients.
The moisturizer. The bottle is cute. Seriously, check out the photo. It is compact (the cheapy in me points out that this means less product at 1.8oz) which would make it good for traveling. This is a lot more "fragrance-free" than the cleanser with almost no detectable scent. I love the fact that it sinks into the skin quickly without leaving any residue. I don't have to worry about washing my hands after applying. Neither of the products caused any sort of reaction, though I don't have sensitive skin so most products don't. My overall opinion... thumbs up.
